Wedding Venue Directions: How to Share Maps So No Guest Gets Lost
How to share wedding venue directions so no guest gets lost: the right map pin, landmarks, parking, multiple venues and a message you can copy.

In this guide
Why guests get lost
Most wrong turns come from three small mistakes:
- The pin is on the venue’s name, not its gate. Big venues, farmhouses and hotels often have several entrances, and the map picks one. It’s not always the one you’re using.
- The name matches several places. Searching “Shree Banquet” can bring up three halls in the same city.
- Several ceremonies, one pin. The mehendi is at home, the sangeet at a hall, the wedding at a lawn, but the invitation shows only the main venue.
How to make the right map pin
Drop the pin yourself
In Google Maps, open the venue and drag the pin to the gate guests should use. For a new or unnamed place, long-press the exact spot.
Share that pin, not a search
Use Share and copy the link. A link to a search can show a different place on each phone.
Check it from someone else’s phone
Open the link on a phone that isn’t logged in to your account, on both Android and iPhone, and check that it lands on the gate.
Name it clearly
If you save it: “Sharma wedding: Gate 2, Lotus Lawns”, not “Lotus Lawns”.
Details to add next to the map
- One landmark: “Opposite the petrol pump on Ajmer Road”. People navigate better with a landmark than an address.
- The gate or entrance: “Use Gate 2. Gate 1 is for catering.”
- Parking: where it is, whether there’s valet, and where drivers should wait.
- Drop-off for elders: if parking is far, say where cars can drop people near the entrance.
- Travel time at that hour: “Allow 45 minutes from the station in the evening.”
- A contact for the day: one person, not the bride or groom, who answers “We’re at the gate, where do we go?”
When ceremonies are in different places
Give every ceremony its own block with its own pin:
| Ceremony | Venue | Map |
|---|---|---|
| Mehendi | Home, B-12 Model Town | Pin to the house |
| Sangeet | Shree Banquet, Gate 2 | Pin to Gate 2 |
| Wedding | Lotus Lawns, Ajmer Road | Pin to the main gate |
Guests open the invitation on the day of each event and look for that day’s venue. Don’t make them scroll through all three to find it.
What to write on a printed card
A printed card can’t be tapped, so write the address in the order a driver uses it:
Lotus Lawns (Gate 2)
Ajmer Road, opposite Bharat Petrol Pump
Jaipur 302006
Add a QR code that opens the map or the full invitation. Our guide to adding a QR code to a wedding card covers size and placement.
A directions message you can copy
Send it the evening before or the morning of each event. Our guide to sending a wedding invitation on WhatsApp covers when to send reminders without overdoing it.
Directions on a VowStory invitation
Every VowStory invitation, on every plan, gives each event its own venue and map, so a guest can tap straight to directions for the ceremony they’re attending. If the venue changes, update it and publish once, and everyone with the link sees the new one.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share the exact location of a wedding venue?
In Google Maps, drop a pin at the entrance guests should use, tap Share and send that link. Test it on another phone before sending it to everyone.
Should the map be on the wedding invitation or sent separately?
Both. Put it in the invitation for every event, and resend the pin on the morning of each event, when guests are actually travelling.
What if the venue has no Google Maps listing?
Long-press the exact spot in Google Maps to drop a pin, share that link, and add a landmark and a phone number in the text.
